Through our group of specialist businesses, we support clean energy generation across every stage of development, from early-stage land preparation and planning support to operational services for live energy assets. Whether we are preparing the ground for nationally significant infrastructure, supplying fuel to Energy Recovery Facilities, managing process by-products or repurposing land for renewable generation, we bring proven capability to complex projects.
Blackwell Earthmoving, part of the Hargreaves group, has almost 70 years of experience preparing sites for major energy and infrastructure projects. Its teams provide early engineering support, large-scale earthmoving, technology-led surveying and final testing and handover for multi-million-pound schemes.
Innovation is central to how we work. Blackwell uses drone technology to map large-scale earthmoving projects with accuracy and efficiency, alongside a modern fleet of excavators, dozers, scrapers and dump trucks fitted with the latest technology. This includes battery-operated excavators as part of our journey towards carbon-free earthworks by 2040.
Hargreaves also plays an important role in the Energy Recovery sector. We source, supply and transport municipal and commercial waste to fuel Energy Recovery Facilities across the UK. We also handle and transport Incinerator Bottom Ash, helping remove material from the process safely and efficiently. Alongside fuel supply, we provide operational support, material handling and screening services throughout the supply chain.
Our land portfolio gives us another way to support the UK’s clean energy transition. Hargreaves Land has a strong track record in repurposing land for infrastructure and energy use, with planning consultants and developers who can support the sourcing, promotion and development of land for renewable energy projects including wind, solar and battery storage.
Clean energy needs more than ambition. It needs capability, coordination and practical delivery. That is where Hargreaves has the how.
